188. William HARRIS9 was born in 1789 in Connecticut. In the
1880 census, son James said William was born in Connecticut. He died on Sep
13, 1847 in Lehman Twp, Luzerne Co., PA. William Harras will
In the name of God Amen. I William Harras of Lehman Township, County of Luzerne
and State of Pennsylvania, being sick and weakly in body, but of sound mind,
memory and understanding, (praised be God for it) considering the certainty of
death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and to the end I may be the better
prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please God to call me hence, do
therefore make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner following,
first and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator,
and as to my ["messuage" or "messerage"], lands, tenements
and hereditaments whatsoever, situate, lying in Lehman township, County of Luzerne,
and State of Pennsylvania, do give and bequeath the same as follows, to remain
in the hands of my Executors till such times as it can be disposed of for a fair
price, or my three Sons Jonathan, Thomas, and Daniel may pay the rest of the
heirs of the following sums, to Jane Craft the sum of Two Hundred dollars, to
Corneley Ann Brown the sum of One Hundred dollars, to Eliza Harras the sum of
one hundred and fifty dollars, to Emily Harras the sum of One one hundred dollars
to Margaret Harris the sum of One hundred and fifty dollars, to James Harris's
children, when they shall be twenty one years of age, the Sum of Two Hundred
dollars and the rest to be Equal divided between Jonathan Thomas and Samuel Harris
on or if sold by my Executors, Jane, Cornelly, Ann, Eliza, Emaly, Margaret and
James, Children to have the same sums as mentioned above and the rest of the
money to be equally divided between Jonathan, Thomas and Samuel Harrison. And
I do empower my Executors to sell the same, and make as good a deed as if I done
the same during my life. And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint Thomas
Harriss and Amos Brown of Lehman Township, County and State aforesaid Executors
of this my Will, hereby revoking and making void all former and other wills by
me at any other time heretofore made, and declare this only to be my last Will
& Testament.
In witness whereof I the said Testator William Harras have to this my last Will
and Testament set my hand & seal the first day of September A.D. 1847

Signed, Sealed, published and declared by the said Testator Wiiliam Harras and
as for his last Will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence
and at his request, and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names
as witnesses thereto.

Be it remembered that on the 11th day of October A.D. 1847, Before me Harris
Jenkins Register of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for said
County, personally came Reuben Lain and Jasper T. Miers the two subscribing witnesses
to the foregoing will, and after being duly sworn according to law doth depose
and say, that they signed their names as witnesses to the foregoing Will, and
that they saw William Harras the Testator sign his name thereto, and that they
signed their names at his request, and at the time of so doing he was of sound
mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief.

In conformity to the foregoing Will and Probate thereof, Letters Testamentary
were granted this day to Thomas Harris and Amos Brown, Executors therein named
they having been first sworn to well and true Administer the goods and chattels,
right and credits which were of the said Testator, to make a true and perfect
Inventory, and just & consonable appraisement within one month from the date
hereof, and exhibit the same in the Registers Office at Wilkes Barre at the time&
in the manner required by law. Given under my hand and Seal the 21st day of October
A.D. 1847.
