16780. Thomas CHIPMAN23 was born about 1594 in Whitechurch, near Dorchester,
England. He died on Jan 8, 1622/23 in England. He owned
property in Whitechurch which yielded him an income of
50 pounds per annum. In 1775, Thomas Chipman of Salisbury,
Conn., caused inquiries to be made by Silas Dean or Benjamin
Franklin, colonial agents in England, in regard to the estate,
and ascertained that it lay as above described and that the
rental was 500 pounds. He was prevented from prosecuting his
claim by the breaking out of the Revolution and its
consequences.
