He was appointed justice of the Court of Common Pleas for this county in 1713, and held that office for nearly half a century. He was also one of the agents for Indian affairs on the Island. Paine MAYHEW and Mary RANKIN were married on Dec 8, 1699 in Chilmark, MA.
